The Bernese Oberland
Part of the Swiss Alps, this range of mountains is comprised of some historical and celebrated peaks, including the Eiger, the Monch and the Jungfrau. It is also home to the longest glacier in the Alps, the Aletschgletscher, 22km or 14 miles in length. Along the northern edge of the range sit a number of picturesque villages, including Grindelwald, Wengen and Murren. These make great bases from which to go out and explore hundreds of kilometers of trails which criss-cross the high alpine pastures. Alternatively it is possible to link these village and beyond with a splendid multi-day tour.
