Alpine Flora
Many of the best hiking trails in the Alps cross the high alpine meadows, the zone in between the forested lower slopes and the “naval” rocky upper slopes. These are the famed alpine pastures where the cattle are brought up to graze during the summer months and dozens of species of brightly coloured wild flowers can often be seen over the course of a single outing.
